Wyland, Artist of the Sea ReviewIf you would like to take a journey through the mind of Wyland, this is the book for you. I have taken my journey by the hand of Wyland throughout this book. I had a great time and didn't even need a ticket or a wet suit!
He does have a lot of realism along with his imagination that he creates onto canvas. This book doesn't have much text. Mostly a well detailed interview with Wyland on how he got started in painting and became a success, and what his future goals are. It's mainly a "picture book" or coffee table book-photos of many of his newer paintings(1990's-2002).Along with each painting Wyland has included interresting yet meaningful quotes. There are also some pages of his extraordinary sculptures, and a small section on his brush paintings. His works are very unique and interresting.
I'm also a marine life artist studying to paint in Wyland's techniques and style so this book really helps me out. The paintings and sculptures are just gorgeous and left me in awe as the love I have for whales, dolphins and other sea animals(like Wyland)went strait to my heart. His art does have a lot of feeling in them that really moves people. Wyland believes this and it is true about his work. It did move me.
Wyland, as always does his best to inform us about helping save our oceans. Clean water and healthy oceans. It's all in the food chain for the Earth's survival. Overall, this is a great book, a huge and heavy book packed with Wyland's many newer works. I do highly recommend it to any ocean lover.
