Full disclosure: many years ago the author, Jim Sanderson, was briefly a student of mine, but that wouldn't obligate me in any way to praise (or damn) this collection of stories. What I appreciated most about Faded Love is the authentic depiction of a certain kind of Texas milieu - car salesmen, delivery van drivers, topless dancers, yoga teachers, hapless instructors at small obscure colleges, and the common denominator is their failure to thrive. But not a failure to struggle. These are stories about fractdured relationships and the couples who work to make them work. Jim Sanderson has focused on the Texans who are invarably overlooked by Hollywood depictions. They're broke or just an inch above it; they're not remotely interested in oil or cows or those big tall funny hats that supposedly all male citizens of the state are fond of donning.Faded Love Overview
