War in the Woods: Combating the Marijuana Cartels on America's Public Lands ReviewWar in the Woods will open up your eyes to the truth of outdoor marijuana cultivation. Mexican cartels have controlled much of the drug trade into the United States for years. Most people don't know that the cartel-associated marijuana grows in California supply 75-80% of the marijuana in the U.S.
Californians in general are a much more diverse and tolerant people, regardless of their political stance or their personal beliefs about legalizing marijuana. Some will be against the use of marijuana for any reason, some will accept it for medicinal purposes only, and some will vote to fully legalize marijuana for recreational use. But what we all despise is the destruction of the environment and the many delicate eco-systems that set California apart from anywhere else. The cultivation of marijuana on our public and private lands is not just the act of planting. It is the diversion of natural creeks and springs, the removal of oak and manzanita, the riparian destruction that takes years to repair, and the poisons and pesticides that flow into our reservoirs. And then there are the cultivators who will protect their cash crop with firearms. There is generally about one confrontation a year between law enforcement and armed cultivators that ends up with a suspect being shot for pointing a firearm at a peace officer and refusing to drop it. Since June this year there have been seven officer-involved shootings with marijuana cultivators. The cartels are becoming more aggressive and they will shoot anyone who has the ability to call 911 and report what they saw.
Read this book and then read it again. It will fill you with rage that this is happening right here, almost literally, in our own back yard.War in the Woods: Combating the Marijuana Cartels on America's Public Lands Overview
