Although I 'get' that this is not meant to be a children's book, I had kind of hoped for a more subtle text so that a child would actually get something out of it. Yes, there is good advice on how to get through life so that people like you and want to be around you, but the delivery is almost admonishing. It's not exactly a 'come on it's bedtime, let's a read a story' kind of book.
