Makeup for Ageless Beauty: More than 40 Colorful, Creative Looks for Women 40 and Over ReviewI bought this book for my mother who has been reluctant to experiment with makeup as she has gotten older and we loved this book! I think this book is very helpful at showing women who are afraid to wear color, how to do it in a way that is pretty and appropriate. The "case study" sections in the back, I found very helpful because it shows you a photo as well as a sketch that pin points how to apply each color in more complicated eyeshadow combination makeups. I found this book to encourage and support women into applying makeup that is creative and colorful, but still wearable. I hate books that just want you to follow step by step rules and not really express anything artistically with your makeup, because I think that's the fun in makeup and I want my mom to enjoy makeup as much as I do!Makeup for Ageless Beauty: More than 40 Colorful, Creative Looks for Women 40 and Over Overview

Through out this book we are shown movie stars from the silent screen and how they did their make-up and hair, to the present day stars that have used the same look.
I had no idea that you were suppose to brush your lips with a dry tooth brush to exfoliate your lips. That is just one of the many tips you will learn along the way. I also loved the mini bios' of each movie star or singer.

Good to Great Hair: Celebrity Hairstyling Techniques Made Simple ReviewHere's a beauty of a book with a bounty of hair care and styling advice. As we all know there are beaucoup books on the market all with the promise of making us look better, younger, slimmer, etc. But I've not run across few authors who bring the wealth of training and experience to his/her craft that Robert Vetica does.
Some 14 years ago he arrived in Hollywood from Milan, Italy where as he puts it "Milan was my high school, university, and graduate school. I came out of that experience with what I believe is a doctorate in hair..." Indeed he did and he shares his knowledge in a gorgeous volume filled with do's, don't's, how-tos, and must-haves.
To Vetica's credit he does not try to make you look like someone you are not. What he does is teach us how to work with the hair that we have in order to look not better but our best. He considers face shape, hair texture, and the appropriate products for each individual (No, you do not need a ton of them).
He is totally honest and disabused me of some notions I've cherished for years, such as the fact that the squeaky-clean feeling for hair is not what we want and no, you don't need to and should not wash your hair every day even if you work out.
The photography in Good To Great Hair is magnificent plus. Not only is it gorgeous but there are can't-do-without shots that show precisely how to hold the dryer and brush for a specific style.
I was amazed at the difference in a friend when she followed just one of Vetica's tips, which was "At a certain age, I believe that a woman's hair looks best away from her face." He also added that if you had to have bangs, move the direction of the bangs away from you face. Simple? Yes, but the difference in her appearance was amazing.
Vetica has an A-List client roster from Salma Hayek to Debra Messing to Renee Zellweger, and no wonder. Obviously he wants women to look their best and really likes them. After reading Good To Great Hair his affection will be reciprocated by many.

Bobbi Brown Beauty Rules: Fabulous Looks, Beauty Essentials, and Life Lessons ReviewI like the overall theme of this book. Yes, it is a beauty book, but it isn't just a bunch of tips on how to apply eyeliner properly. It talks about confidence, eating right and taking care of ALL of you. The information in it is about building up the whole girl, not just putting a layer of color over what ever it is you don't like about yourself.
There are a few times in the book that it seemed like a few girls were over-done, but that wasn't emphasized so much as finding the right amount for you. It gives you tips for your skin tone, skin condition and emphasizing the positive. It talks about every day and prom make-up. The stories in it are real, engaging and sometimes funny. There are also interviews with models and talk with sports celebrities. Overall, this book is a wonderful resource.
I would however say that marketing it for "twenties" as it states on the cover is a bit much. Unless it is a twenty that has absolutely no idea about make-up or basic self-care or possibly someone just leaving their teens, this idea is a bit far-fetched. Most of the tips in here are not written for a grown woman to use. They are more like a starter guide that helps you decide what you're trying to do and how to get there.
It is a great book with a wealth of information in it. I would recommend it for any young girl after the age where The Care & Keeping of You: The Body Book for Girls (American Girl Library) becomes useless or too immature, though that book is great up to early teens, in my opinion. But, if you have a teen that you want to give them a book full of great information written in a way that will hopefully teach them while boosting their confidence, this is a great choice.Bobbi Brown Beauty Rules: Fabulous Looks, Beauty Essentials, and Life Lessons Overview
