How to Con Your Kid ReviewBy design, two-year olds often don't want to do what you want them to do, leading to the well documented Parent-Toddler Power Struggle. Of course, I know these can often be avoided by turning the task into a game, adventure or song. But really, when I'm rushing to get out the door, I've already cleaned up 3 spills, my oldest can't find his shoes, and my two-year old refuses to allow me to brush her hair, my creative mind shuts down. I was having just such a morning and literally ran to find this book, looked up brushing your toddler's hair and one minute later my daughter was happily letting me brush her hair while I sang a song about getting the knotty witch out. The best part was I left the house that morning feeling not like a harried mother bullying her kids into doing what she needed them to do, but a clever and creative mother with two happy children. I am giving this book to all my friends who have toddlers.How to Con Your Kid Overview

In this first installment, we find Tracy in New York with plans to attend the wedding of her sister-in-law, Marisa. All is well until the bride is kidnapped and the family seems more concerned with cover up then recovery . Tracy swings into action, and with the help of loveable Uncle Philly, they scour the city, running into any number of memorable characters. Dem Bones Revenge: A Tracy Eaton Mystery ReviewKris Neri garnered spectacular success with her first Tracy Eaton mystery, Revenge Of The Gypsy Queen. Nominated for Anthony, Macavity and Agatha awards for Best First Novel, it was apparent that Kris Neri was an up and comer. Kris had published numerous short stories of the mystery genre in magazines and is currently at work on Tracy's next adventure: Revenge For Old Times Sake.
Picture a "Postcards from the Edge" type of relationship between mother and daughter. Mother is a combination of Elizabeth Taylor and Debbie Reynolds. Tracy is more of a combination of Calamity Jane and Princess Leia. Throw in Tracy's husband, who could be a mix of Harrison Ford and Bruce Willis in a suit. But Tracy is a struggling writer about to be cut off by her publisher. She has two days to "fix" her latest novel, and suddenly Mother is the prime suspect in the murder of Vince Sperry. Did Martha Collins commit murder, or did she just stumble into the thick of things? Did she want to save her mother? From the start, Neri sets up a hilarious dialogue between Tracy and Martha:
"Mother sidled close to my ear. `There's a telephone number everyone in Beverly Hills is talking about. You order a servant you can keep forever for little more than a few years' salary. I heard about it from Rico, my hairdresser. As I reeled away from her into a pile of skiwear, I shook my head. `Please tell me I'm adopted.'"
Needless to say, Dem Bones Revenge is a hilarious mystery because it so closely resembles the real deal between mothers and daughters. Tracy's character struggles with her desire to euphemistically murder her mother while trying to save her. Martha Collins is the stereotypical aging actress who can't quite get over her case of the pampered movie star blues. The plot pulls the reader from one near-miss to another as Tracy stubbornly peels away the layers of facade, pulls her husband Drew into the act, and saves Martha from herself.
Neri's characters are unique, fresh, and yet somehow are people we all know and love. She knows her territory, being a Southern Californian, which gives the plot a unique perspective.

Candy Trouble ReviewIt's a good story, TERRIBLE spelling. If I could just get past that I would enjoy it more. My 3 year old LOVES it!Candy Trouble OverviewLogan and Lucy eat too much candy. Mom tells them about cavities. They decide to use Lucy's magic and Logan's sword to fight cavities. Soon they learn you can't fight tooth decay that way. This story will help explain to young ones why they shouldn't eat too much candy, and why they need to brush. You and your little one will be entertained with this cute story while learning some important lessons.***A cavity monster ate some of my commas and "O"s from the word too. Lucy and Logan are fighting them now and the missing commas and "O"s should be returned by the weekend. 11/4/11***
